The tour through the castle museum, opened in 2008, gives an interesting insight into the history of Kronberg castle and its residents. From the founding of the castle in th 12th century, the Lord of Kronberg (Ritter) owned the place until their extinction in 1704. The castle had various rulers until 1892, when it was granted as agift to Empress Victoria, oldest daughter of Queen Victoria and widow of the German Emperor Friedrich III. Today, the castle is owned and run by a foundation the members of which are the city of Kronberg and the association of the friends of the castle (Burgverein).
