DThe lyrical, dramatic, narrative and philosophical works of the poet born in 1759 in the historical half-timbered-style town of Marbach am Neckar are undoubtedly counted among the most outstanding works of the German language.
Schiller's birthplace, the German Literature Archives and the National Schiller Museum are all evocative of Schiller’s Swabian ancestry.
The German Schiller Institute in Marbach am Neckar and the Weimar Classics and Art Collections foundation will be commemorating the 200th anniversary of Schiller’s death in the coming year by presenting two large exhibitions from April 2005 until Spring 2006 .
