Lorch
Schiller was relocated to Württemberg’s market town Lorch for financial reasons, and here he spent his time as a primary school pupil. The family was living with the blacksmith Molt in a private home (1764 - 1766). The private Latin lessons the young German took from Father Moser during this period were very influential in Schiller's life, as this inspired him to become a clergyman.
Visitors to Lorch can see how proud the town is of their Schiller in many of the localities commemorating him- especially the Schiller house. Lorch also boasts a Schiller grotto, traced back to the times of Friedrich Schiller’s son Karl, who was head forester at the Lorch forest.
The world of the great Swabian poet is brought to life in 2005 through the numerous events and exhibitions.
